To use Enhanced Image Optimization, you'll need to:

  • Have an in5 Gold plan or higher
  • Run InDesign as administrator
    •  Not having admin rights may prevent the image optimization libraries from being able to overwrite files.
      • Here are the steps for how to run InDesign as administrator on Windows:
        1. Quit InDesign
        2. Go to the Start menu and type InDesign in the Search or right-click on InDesign in the Taskbar

        3. Right-click on Adobe InDesign 2024 in the either the results of the Search menu or in the menu that appears in the Taskbar

        4. Select Run as administrator

      • Here is information on how to run InDesign as administrator on macOS:

When you export either by going to in5 > Export HTML5 with in5... or to in5 > Easy Export Wizard... and click the Advanced button, go to the Advanced section of the Export HTML5 with in5 dialog and set Image Optimization to Enhanced.

Enhanced Image Optimization is great for removing duplicates created when making Responsive Layouts that use alternate layouts.

For Enhanced Image Optimization to remove duplicate images within a layout, make sure that they are not rotated, scaled, or cropped. If they are, then they won't be identified as duplicates for consolidation.

Expert tip: Set Image Optimization to Enhanced when you're exporting a final version as the consolidation and compression can make the exporting process take longer.
